Bio

From an early age, Claudia Basto (known as IRIS) found an escape from the harsh realities of the world by imagining a more playful version of life through her paintings. She crafted a unique blend of surrealism, vibrant colors, and distorted darkness, which ultimately gave rise to her artistic persona, IRIS—symbolizing the eye, not as a passive observer, but as an entity with its own perception of reality.

Inspired by surrealism, the modern art movement, and psychedelic rock music, these influences shaped her journey as an artist. Driven by a desire to expand her horizons, she studied at Escola Artística Soares dos Reis and earned a degree in Communication Design from ESAD Matosinhos.

As both an artist and a designer, Claudia continues to challenge societal constraints, embracing a limitless creative vision. Her work aims to offer others a chance to appreciate life's beauty and rediscover their inner child, free from external pressures.
